Therapeutic methods

Cognitive-behavioral therapy

Modern behavioral therapy is an empirically based and recognized method for treating psychological disorders and stress. Behavioral therapy now combines a variety of disorder-specific and cross-disorder exercises, techniques and methods that are tailored to each patient.

As the name implies, this approach focuses on changing current behavior. The concept of behavior is taken in a broader sense and includes not only visible actions, but also thoughts, emotions and physiological reactions.

Together we will look for possible alternatives that will bring you closer to your personal goals. In the next step, we will work on changing your previous behavior, your living conditions or your attitudes. In order to help you with current problems, we use your individual biography, your current life situation and your private and professional environment as a starting point.

Schema therapy is a further development of classic behavioral therapy.
The effectiveness of schema therapy has been demonstrated in scientific studies, especially for people struggling with relationship problems, deep-seated thought patterns and limited success with other therapeutic measures (e.g., personality disorders and chronic depression). It offers a way to identify and change unhealthy patterns of thinking and behavior to achieve better mental health and relationship quality.
A central element of schema therapy is the establishment of a conscious therapeutic relationship between therapist and patient.
In schema therapy, the term "schemas" refers to certain patterns or life traps consisting of memories, feelings, thoughts and body perceptions. These schemas usually develop in childhood or adolescence as a result of frustration or failure to meet basic emotional needs. They develop over time and can be stressful and problematic for the affected person, both in relation to themselves and in interpersonal relationships.
With the help of schema therapy, patients are able to recognize and change recurring and potentially self-harming emotional patterns.
